Major studies out of Brazil, Pennsylvania, and Chicago have all uncovered a somewhat bizarre trend: Many birds are shrinking in size as the planet gets hotter. Why is this happening? Read our explainer by Lauren Leffer. audubon.org/news/many-bird…

Today, an esteemed scientist compared my research on the genetics of plumage color in #birds to solving a cold case. A high compliment for me: an early-career evolutionary biologist and #murderino. Can I list “forensics of bird color” as one of my disciplines? (1/9)

Doing miscellaneous field work however I can as I await for my tagged birds to return in April! Here’s a golden bird (Henslow’s Sparrow) in the golden sunlight we caught while dredging through some fantastic Longleaf Savannahs in southern Louisiana

My MSc research looking at the impact of rainfall patterns on Swainson's Warbler space use has been published! Read our paper (w/@OSU_AvianEco Peter Marra ) to see how these secretive birds respond to changing conditions! American Ornithological Society Birds Caribbean 🐦🇯🇲 academic.oup.com/auk/advance-ar…

Please RT! We are hiring a field technician to recapture Swainson’s Warblers with geolocators in Virginia this spring! See the official job listing for more details: ornithologyexchange.org/jobs/board/sho…

An update from team Swainson’s Warbler: many geolocators have been recovered so far! Despite a huge influx of young birds on territories at all sites (a good problem to have). From each state - LA = 7, MO = 3, SC = 3, VA = 3, TN = 3. Still a long ways to go!
