Remember ex-#mufc forward, Thomas Miller, born today in 1890. Thomas is one of the few players transferred directly between Anfield & Old Trafford, moving to United in 1920. He scored 8 times in 27 games before moving to Hearts in 1921. Thomas passed away in 1958, aged 68. RIP.

Spare a thought for former #MUFC midfielder, Ian Moir, born today in 1943. Ian was in our youth side from 1958-60, making his debut Vs. BWFC. He stayed at OT until 1965, playing 45 times & scoring 5 before moving to Blackpool; retiring in 1976. Ian Moir died in 2015, aged 71. RIP

Happy 59th Birthday to #mufc legend, CB stalwart, Gary Pallister. He joined us in 1989 from Boro for £2.3m, a record fee between British clubs. During his 437 games & 15 goals, he won 15 major honours, including 4 EPL, 3 FA Cups, ELC, UCWC, etc. He moved back to Boro in 1998.

Think of former Newton Heath forward, William Dunn, born today in 1877. William joined from South Bank in 1897 to 2nd Division NHFC. He only stayed until July the next year after 12 official appearances. His countenance has been lost in time, hence the NHFC jersey. RIP

Remember ex-Newton Heath forward Peter Blackmore, born today in 1879. TBH not much is known about this player, even his birthdate cant be verified. He played 2 games for us Vs. now defunct clubs, New Brighton Tower FC & South Shore FC . Peter passed away in 1937. RIP.

Happy 21st Birthday to #mufc winger Alejandro Garnacho! Alejandro came to the youth side in 2020 & won the FA Youth Cup & Jimmy Murphy Award. In the last 2 seasons, he has picked up an ELC & scored in the winning FA Cup final in 2024. He has scored 26 goals in 144 games to date.

Remember ex-Newton Heath half-back, Alfred Ambler, born today in 1879. The Mancunian joined from Hyde in 1899, when we were in the 2nd Division. He played 10 games for Newton Heath, scoring 1, before moving to Colne FC in 1901. Alfred died in 1960, aged 81. RIP.

Remember former #mufc full back William Porter, born today in 1905. William moved to OT in 1935 from OAFC. Up to WWII, he had played 65 games & helped us to promotion twice, once as Division 2 Champs. Post-War he managed Hyde. Billy died in 1946, he was just 40 years old. RIP.

Happy 49th Birthday to a #mufc goalscoring legend, Ruud Van Nistlerooy! Bought from PSV in 2001 for a record £18.5m, he won 1 EPL, an FA Cup, ELC & CS; RvN scored 150 goals in 219 games. Ruud left in 2005 to Real Madrid, returning as interim manager in 2024, umbeaten in 4 matches

Happy Birthday to former #mufc keeper Ian Wilkinson, who turns 52 today. Ian signed as a trainee in 1989, and made his 1 appearance in the 1991 League Cup 2nd Rd 2nd Leg match Vs. Cambridge United. He eventually left for Stockport County in the summer of 1993.

Remember former #mufc outside right/ centre-forward, Jack Quin, born today in 1890. Jack came to Bank Street from MCFC in 1908. Unfortunately, he played only 2 games. He played part-time, he also worked as a teacher. The Scot moved to Nelson in 1910, & died at 62, in 1953.

Spare a thought for Joseph Dale, born today in 1921. Joe joined #MUFC from non-league Witton Albion in 1947. But after just 2 games was shipped off to Div. 3 PVFC. He'd eventually move back to Witton to continue a successful amateur career. Joseph Dale died in 2000, aged 79. RIP.

Happy 48th Birthday to ex-#MUFC defender, Michael Clegg! Michael was in the youth side (1993-95), & was part of the FA Youth Cup win in 1995. The Mancunian played 25 games between 1996-2002 but only after a couple of loan spells. Michael left for Oldham in 2002.

Season 1986/87 the final year that the floodlights would be standing at Old Trafford. They would not be used that season though, as the brand new floodlights along roof of Main Stand & United Road Stands were used.

Remember ex #mufc defender, Jimmy Hodge, born today in 1891. The Scot signed from Stenhousmuir in 1910 & played 86 games, scoring 2. Jimmy served as gunner in the Royal Artillery during WWI; he signed for Millwall Ath in 1919. Jimmy died in 1970, at 79. RIP & TY for your service
