Hoping to use my knowledge and skills as an ex athlete and now high-performance practitioner to represent your views and put athletes first both on and off the track. My manifesto below, please check your emails and vote UKA Athlete Commission 🥰

Sharing one of my policies I intend to introduce should I be elected on the UKA Athlete Commission Too many athletes underperform, get injured or drop out of the sport due not understanding the energy demands of their training. Improved screening and education can be one way to prevent this 💪🏼

🗣Athlete Mentors! The second policy I would like to introduce should I be elected on the BAC. Having a role model or friend to talk to, guide you and share their experiences can positively impact an athletes mindset as they transition through their career. UKA Athlete Commission #givingback

🗣Support coach development and CPD! Most our coaches are voluntary and work full time. CPD through webinars, workshops, a coaches online portal would enable them to stay up to date with the knowledge on the WCPP benefiting them and athletes UKA Athlete Commission POLICY 3👩🏼‍🎓👩🏻‍🏫🧑🏾‍💻

This sounds outlandish and easy to dismiss, but there are data to support this 'cross talk'... ...and this synergy through rhythmic action occurs at both proximal and distal joints! 🤯 Source: sciencedirect.com/science/articl… 4/5

Greater humility is warranted when we consider where true expertise resides and where the meaningful insights that move things forward come from. Spoiler: academic research rarely drives cutting edge practice. Empirical study is not restricted to the research setting 🧵👇 1/6

Emily Borthwick enjoying and embracing the second part of the 5P’s. Plan, Process, Permission, Perform to your Potential. I’m sure she will soon execute the final three points in the weeks and months to come.

Looking forward to reading this and learning from Dr Paul Gamble; he has a scientist’s mind, and an artist’s heart. I’m sure this will be a great read.

Movements are governed by thoughts, Thoughts are communicated on a breath, Therefore movement is controlled by breathing.

Here is 31 seconds that show why track and field can be as beautiful and artistic as ballet. In my humble opinion. Motion creates emotion. #highjump

3 med balls, an unwrapped high jump bed, 30 seconds on the clock = serious amounts of fun. The athletes loved this part of their session. Being non specific can be a joy for athletes. #highjump

I think that this is a useful drill for comp preparation. Full run up with cone step over on the penultimate stride. Here Will Grimsey uses a good heel recover into his penultimate which help the inside knee come through with lots of energy. #highjump

Here is picture of a training fan and high jump bed an Indian high jumper I’m helping through @jameshillier78 The athlete built this in his back garden during lockdown. Where there is a will, there is always a way. #highjump
