This government held children in Manston concentration camp, detaining them in tents overcrowded by thousands, with guards assaulting people, and amongst diphtheria scabies and norovirus outbreaks. We & Solidarity Detainee Support (SDS) saw many children much younger than 14 there. Shut them all down.

Points to note: - medical services had improved at Manston - many staff at Manston had not been DBS checked - the HO could not provide information about detainees who had been designated adults at risk - inspectors did not find evidence that Manston would cope if numbers rose.

Clear message: (sh)it happened before and (sh)it can happen again. The Home Office farms out responsibility to private interests who don’t give much of a monkey’s toe about people in vulnerable circumstance; gladly making a profit, doing less than adequately well. £s over lives
