Headlines today trumpet the record high number of job vacancies in the UK. Labor market tightness, though, is only just back to pre-pandemic levels. It's still early days, but the recent data can also be read as an outward shift of the Beveridge curve, which is never good news.

Slightly random weekend tweet for those interested in guitars out there: I had never played a Rick before, came across this reasonably priced beauty, and now I can’t put it down! It’s awesome and super versatile. Why aren’t these guitars more popular?

Very nice chat over coffee + cake with some 3rd-year UCL Economics students. Really interesting and helpful to hear their feedback and ideas to take our BSc programme forward. Looking forward to another session next week!

62 speakers, ~100 attendees from around the world, 3 parallel sessions, 4 plenaries over two days. Our alumni answered the call in amazing numbers! This UCL Economics PhD alumni conference is a resounding academic success, and a moving reminder of how much we all love our department!

"With your convictions and mine"? The French word "conviction" doesn't have the double meaning that it has in English... Still, interesting choice of words.
