The Mason City Municipal Airport Commercial Terminal project is quickly taking shape. Here are some comparison photos from June 2023, to December 2023, and what it will look like when finished in July 2024! We can't wait to invite you into our new facility next Summer!

One of the many reasons the decision was made to build a new terminal was space, particularly space for passengers. The "Gatehold", the area you wait in after going through security, will be 10x larger than the current terminal.

According to the airport, the 23,000 square foot terminal building will replace the current terminal building, which was originally built in 1966 and scheduled to be demolished. kaaltv.com/news/mason-cit…

No this isn't a photo of the Minneapolis or Des Moines Airport, this is Mason City! The new terminal will feature this large addition, a Passenger Boarding Bridge! Big airport amenities, same small airport charm!

We've shown you some of the large improvements of the new terminal, now for a little smaller but very important one for many travelers. The new terminal features water fountains with bottle filling stations both before and AFTER security!

Did you know? Our architects had a little fun and hid an "Easter Egg" in the ceiling of the new Terminal lobby. Can you spot it? .... .. -. -

Have you figured it out yet? The spacing between the lights spells out "Mason" and "City" in Morse Code. The small spaces are the dots, the larger spaces are the dashes, with the largest spaces being the gaps between letters. -- .- ... --- -. -.-. .. - -.--

We are getting excited for the Grand Opening July 24th. Furniture is installed and Dean Snyder Construction is putting the finishing touches on the final details of the new Terminal Building! The First Flight from the new terminal is scheduled for July 31st!

We have the power! You will now be able to charge your mobile devices at nearly every seat in the new terminal!

With a little help from our furry friends Bentley and Joya, here is another exciting addition in our new Terminal Facility, a Service Animal Relief Area that we have taken to calling SARA!

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since the opening of our brand-new terminal! Over the past 12 months, 8,297 passengers boarded flights and 8,378 passengers arrived, for a total of 16,675 total passengers served. That’s a 42% increase compared to the previous year!

By popular demand, we’ve upgraded our gate waiting area with new seating and a dedicated workstation! Business travelers can now comfortably set up their laptops and stay productive while waiting to board. Just one more way we’re making your travel experience better!
