Just got off the phone with BCBSIL pcp referral re: pt requesting out of network approval, to see me, & will be denied, “bc providers just don’t approve out of network providers” even tho BCBSIL stated should patient’s med grp approve an out of network, insurance would cover.

Ppl with HMOs are obligated to get referrals and work with folks within network, even tho, insurance would cover should medical grp approve. But why would they approve if they have ppl within their group who can do the “work”? $$$$$$$>choice
