Lil Al Pacino is one of the worst cases of neglect I’ve seen. We’ve had him for 20 days and are rebuilding his life. He looks like a whole new dog already… (1/8) 🧵

Nobody had touched him in years. It took us 2 visits to catch him. He was in so much agony it’s not surprising he was like this (2/8)

He was red raw from fleas and eggs baked into his body. The vets sedated him for and 6 people had to clean him. His weight was also a huge issue. He was super obese. (3/8)

We did make some progress on the skin but then as I could touch him properly we started finding bad tumors. The vets wanted them out immediately. Cancer was very likely (4/8)

But he has been battling back. You can see the light coming back into his eyes more and more each day. His fur is growing back and he is losing weight with our healthy food. (6/8)

Lil Al Pacino is even starting to enjoy the company of humans again as his pain eases. (7/8)

It’s only been 3 full weeks but what a change in his little life. All Lil Al Pacino needed was a chance. He had that now 🥰🙏 (8/8)

Calls of the mighty Pileated Woodpecker 🪓 I had a wonderful opportunity to film a female Pileated Woodpecker. She called out quite a few times, and made a few different types of vocalizations. This "song" is the sound they're known for, often confused with Northern Flickers. 🎥
