Scrubbed in and closed for the vet during an LDA today…today was a good day! I’m such a practical learner, so I’m super grateful to the vets who (quite literally) let me get my hands dirty!

Kits, kits and more kits! Why I don’t mind getting the “student jobs” on placement: 1. There’s always something to learn from any job you’re doing 2. You’re helping out a busy team who would’ve had to do it otherwise 3. It keeps you busy! I personally like to keep moving

A day of llamas, alpacas and dairy calves to round off my final farm placement of 5th year! Had so much fun these past two weeks and can’t thank the staff at Tyndale Vets enough!

A week of Night Shifts at Pride Referrals over - part of my last couple of small animal final year rotations! An interesting week of nights - forever grateful that I was placed in the same rotation group as my housemate (and best friend!) 🥰

Friday marked the end of my 5 years at vet school (only finals left now!) I’ve spent the last few days celebrating with friends, and going camping in the Lake District by myself. It’s nice to take a moment of calm before the storm, just to remind myself of how good life can be.

First day at work (in 30•c heat!) means getting an ice cream on the way back from a clear TB test Almost makes up for having to wear waterproofs in this weather!

Sheep people! Can anyone wiser than me able to explain the best way to strip graze 4 fields (with various parasite burdens) for the coming year? Or point me to a resource? None of the fields have been rested, + we’re fairly certain the housing is burdened too! Thanks in advance!

Heading down to my first BCVA congress tomorrow! Looking forward to the calf pneumonia and #WeanClean talks in prep for my first farmer meeting on tackling beef pneumonia in November!

Hello all, I’m putting together a farmer facing talk on pneumonia - does anyone know of any grants available at the moment that could help with shed design / ventilation / management / etc? I’m going a bit loopy trying to search for them!

Merry Christmas Eve on call…second call out of the weekend to a lovely new client of ours (shame about the circumstances). Here’s to the festive season stopping nothing! 🎄🐄

Sometimes in mixed vet work I feel like I’m falling behind my farm only peers, but today has really helped my confidence I did my first solo farm surgery, and my first ever full c-section! She was up and drinking right away, and was very calm beneath my slightly shaky hands 😅
