I finally made it along to the fascinating pair of Orpen exhibitions at Farmleigh House. Amazing to see how generations of the Orpen family were not only gifted in the visual arts but used them so much in their communications. In Sir William Orpen that talent reached its zenith.

It is said that ⁦Sir William Orpen⁩ often placed this convex mirror on the wall behind his subjects as a surreptitious way of including a “selfie” in their finished portraits. Last chance to see the exhibition at ⁦Farmleigh House⁩ gallery tomorrow.
