5:40am: Storms with a history of 60 mph winds are now in Johnson co (less wind in Ellis co) and are moving quickly SE. They are producing very heavy rain and lots of lightning as well...

Evan Andrews (@evanandrewsfox4) 's Twitter Profile Photo

6:10am: Strongest storms have raced south with HIGH WINDS as a threat. Drier DFW area for now. Watching new storms NW that will drop SE through 9am (esp from I-35w and west)

7:10 am: Strongest storms (wind) have raced SE. Rain continues east (nothing rough) while new storms are developing west of I-35W. Those will be the focus through 9-10am as new storms will pop and drop SSE on the back side of the complex.

10am: Quieting down. Rain is exiting far SE areas. Still a few storms WEST of I-35W (that didn't get earlier storms). Those are moving south and will continue through noon. Brief heavy rain and gusty winds possible. DFW and north should be quiet, with sun returning. Low 90s PM.

So the highest wind ever at DFW is now OFFICIAL. Yesterday was rounded down to 89 mph. It now surpasses the Microburst from Aug 2, 1985 (Delta flight 191). Even more amazing was the lack of significant damage. We'll take it.

"Back to your regularly scheduled August weather..." Mostly sunny skies, light winds and higher temps are headed back. Today is still below average with some smoke and ozone in the air (pollution watch). We head back to normal tomorrow and then top out "near 100" to end the week.

File it under "could be worse"... Still a smoky haze today (tomorrow too) so pollution watch in effect. Mainly sunny as well. It will slowly get hotter as we head through the week but the PEAK only looks to be "near 100" this time. We'll then back off slightly next week.

A little smoky and a little hotter, but it's August. And we're still in the 90s! Smoky haze for another day + ozone (PM) makes for a little pollution. Temps tick up a couple of degrees...back near "average" mid 90s. They get hotter by the end of the week with readings "near 100".

A little "heat peak" to end the week! Temps tick up "near 100" next few days. Humidity isn't horrible, but it's enough to push the heat index to the 102-106 range, so we have some borderline heat advisories. Next week may see a little "dip" along with a couple of shower chances.

A little hotter but is anyone surprised this time of year? Upper 90s to near 100 by tomorrow BUT with a little humidity, that yields a heat index over 100. Some areas will get up to 105 (Heat Advisories in effect) ...but not all. Smoke is still in the air to yield a haze.
