Kicking off the Fisheries and Ocean Dialogues in Brussels today to support the elaboration of the #EUOceanPact! Charlina Vitcheva recalled today’s objective: Working together towards a healthier ocean and better livelihoods for coastal communities 🌊

We need to acknowledge the pressures our activities have on the biosphere in which humans operate. In this context, as highlighted by Humberto Delgado Rosa, the ocean is playing a crucial role on our capacity to reverse the global sustainability crisis 🌍

The crucial role of #MSP in integrating #climatechange actions was underlined by Catarina Frazão Santos during the first Panel of the Fisheries and Ocean Dialogues. Climate-smart MSP it is key to minimise impacts and enhance adaptation of maritime sectors 🌪️

Clean energy transition and Blue Economy go hand in hand, as said by Mechthild Wörsdörfer to introduce our second Panel discussion🤝However we should align nature #protection with the development of renewables, through sea basin cooperation and #multiuse at sea.

How can we combine the development of offshore renewable energy infrastructure, and enhancement of nature restoration?🤔The answer was provided by Cristina Simioli: the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive #MSPD, is the tool to enable us to reach these objectives.

💬Stakeholder consultation was highlighted as a key aspect of building any maritime policy or project. 🎣In this context, Seamus reiterated the need to bring local fishermen in the discussion about blue economy and nature protection.
