I'll be leaving Colorado today. It's been a very nice visit. Then, after a day back home, Lu and I are going to Grenada for a week.

This is the actual clock hanging in the mine office near the Llewellyn portal when Consol's No. 9 mine near Mannington and Farmington, WV exploded at precisely 5:27am on Nov. 20 1968, killing 78 men. The explosion stopped it, literally freezing the moment in time

Some things die with their founder. But sometimes a thing is good enough to survive that death - like 1632. There is a new X account for the new magazine 1632andBeyond but there are more followers here until you all go follow the new account.

About Larry 1: His first novel was Monster Hunter International. A NYC editor or publisher (I forget which job) told him there were too many guns in the novel. He considered their advice, then added some more guns and self-published. He became a successful Baen Books author.

Sigh. I can identify this street from the houses on the west side of it. Even the fact that I KNOW those houses on the west side tells you I spend WAY too much time looking at photos and Google Maps images of Mannington. But I love that they are sledding down Hough Street!

According to this, the library at the old high school, current middle school, was named for Dr. Phoebia G. Moore.
