🚨🚨🚨Hey #EconTwitter, 🚨🚨🚨 I am happy to share my new IZA DP. Teaching online during COVID? In this paper Department of Social Sciences at West Point allowed my active-duty co-authors and me to randomize students into either an online or F2F class. iza.org/de/publication…

This is a very, very big deal to empirical researchers. I cannot stress the number of research topics that will not be possible with this change.

Ten years ago I published a paper called "Trillion Dollar Bills on the Sidewalk". I want younger scholars fighting for their ideas to know how that paper was received then, and now —>

As I come here to share with the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I come as a fellow faith traveler who takes seriously the Word of God and the deep moral values represented in various faith traditions—commitments to love, truth, justice, and care for one another as a matter of faith. #BYUdevo

So my wife renewed her DACA again. Two more years, until 2024! It got me thinking about how there is a not-insignificant population of young immigrants who will have lived with DACA for an entire decade this year, including my wife. Ten years lived in two year intervals.

Just an insane decision. And note that this lawsuit is being brought under the California Environmental Quality Act, though everyone, on all sides, knows the issues here aren't environmental. So please, stop telling me how CEQA has already been fixed. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…

HELLO. I’m in Businessweek today on something I think needs a TON more attention: the work-permit cliff. Since 2020 USCIS has gotten MUCH WORSE at renewing work permits. As a result people are ROUTINELY losing their income, drivers’ licenses, jobs. 🧵 bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

It’s not just Roe, y’all. It never was. It’s Loving & Obergefell (marriage equality), Lawrence (intimacy), Griswold (contraception), Meyer & Pierce (education and upbringing). It’s all of substantive due process. It’s also Brown. It’s also equal protection. On every dimension.

Two Saturdays ago I wrote about a nightmare my nephew and his wife are experiencing. Boston DCF (Dept of Children & Families) took their babies (age 3 months and 3.5 years) in the middle of the night. With no warrant. Here's the whole story written up by the mother. /1
