We took part in this year’s Malawi International Trade Fair where we showcased our work and projects in power generation. We were glad to interact and engage with various stakeholders that visited our pavilion. Here are some of the highlights of what we enjoyed.

We experience various faults in our work of power generation. Earlier this year, one machine at Kapichira was out of operation due to a major fault. A joint team of engineers and technicians from all our power stations worked day and night to resolve the problem.

As the world celebrates the International Women in Engineering Day, we are proud of our women engineers and the work that they do. We also remain committed to supporting our future female engineers in the classrooms of Malawi’s secondary schools and universities. #inwed2025

As Malawi experiences a deficit of women in technical roles, we are at the forefront of implementing strategies that ensure women representation in technical fields. Since 2017, EGENCO's representation of women in technical roles has increased from 8% to 18%.

Addressing the deficit of women in technical roles requires tackling the root cause, limited involvement of girls in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects during their education.

As young girls pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects, they need strong support to succeed and become the next generation of engineers. #TogetherWeEngineer, #INWED2025, #InternationalWomenInEngineeringDay
