#OnThisDay in 1935, Congressman & humanitarian Ron Dellums was born. Reared in the northern CA district that founded the free speech movement & the Black Panther Party, Dellums became an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War & introduced legislation to uncover US atrocities there.

Celebrating resilience can be a barrier to achieving justice. Let’s create a world where people don’t have to be resilient against dehumanization, discrimination, and devastation from poverty and militarism.

#AhmaudArbery should be here. The McMichaels and Bryan are indeed guilty of taking his life for no other reason than for him being Black. I’m praying for and thinking of Ahmaud’s family, including his mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, who in this moment, is still missing her son.

Dear Brother Ahmaud: I know that this verdict doesn’t bring you back, and, oh how I lament your death. Yet I rejoice in this verdict as I remember these words from my father: “I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality.” ~MLK

Wanda Cooper-Jones, mother of #AhmaudArbery, just shared that she believes her son can now rest in peace. We are thankful for the guilty verdicts and we take comfort in these words from his mother. “…until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

In African American families, greens are often a staple at the Thanksgiving table. This stockpot was used to cook collard greens at the Florida Avenue Grill in D.C., one of the oldest African American-owned soul food restaurants in the country. What are you having for #Thanksgiving?

The relief is because we weren’t sure that a jury in this nation would find White men who clearly lynched a Black man in broad daylight guilty. So the trauma is real. We need continual justice, which my father defined as “love correcting everything that stands against love.”

I’m so tired of Black people being hashtags because of lynchings and state-sanctioned violence.
