This moody weather has me inspired to plan a menu of cosy comfort food paired with The Hussar Grill’s signature red blend. My favourite steakhouse by far, I love their retro appeal, excellent service and delicious menu - the latter I was fortunate enough to sample last year.

Whether mashed on to hot-buttered toast, stirred through roasted tomato sauce for pasta or (my personal favourite) forked into butter and chives as a simple pâté, tinned sardines are the veritable workhorse of the pantry and a foodstuff I have yet to tire of.

Currently spooning this over anything and everything – the recipe for my Smoked Chilli Sauce is up on my site. Cayenne chillies smoked in the kettlebraai are blended with fresh garlic, rosemary, white wine vinegar and a generous handful of Weskus salt. bit.ly/2XWDYUD
