Public ambulances only transferring patients to ( overcrowded) public hospitals is illogical &ridiculous. An acutely ill patient going to a private hospital is one patient less to public hospital. In present circumstances this can is a plus for those attending public hospitals

I don’t know - presumably a ‘policy / protocol’ drafted by national ambulance service. However it is entirely illogical. An acutely ill patient who wishes to be admitted to a private hospital should in my view be entitled to transfer by ambulance if required.
