New paper published in PLOS Pathogens by Emory/Georgia TB Research Advancement Center-TRAC investigators. Using immunometabolic profiling of plasma from multiple pulmonary TB cohorts they show a close association between remodeling of TCA cycle intermediates and pathologic inflammation. dx.plos.org/10.1371/journa…

In #PLHIV from Myanmar, Emory Public Health and Georgia State University • School of Public Health investigators found increased #TB incidence due to synergy between low BMI and hyperglycemia. Emory investigators, led by Matthew Magee, examined >500,000 patients with TB infection. They found an increased risk of diabetes incidence, suggesting subclinical LTBI may have metabolic sequela.
