A very pretty #BGP visualization tool from Cloudflare and Cloudflare Radar gets some routing display improvements showing route propagation thru ASN’s (and it’s free). Read up below, or just dive right in at radar.cloudflare.com/routing

Here’s a fantastic video. The Serial Port YT channel about #BGP 512K day (12 August 2014). Not a great day for Cisco 6500 based networks. Hear from Andree Toonk about BGPMon and what happened that day. Then watch a full recreation of that day on a 6500. youtu.be/4r5IStRaG4E

Network #AS33425 - two months to the day after its IPO, $CRWV CoreWeave stock has been on a roll. In other news, they are still announcing zero IPv6 routes; something the stock market doesn’t seem to care about.

An announcement with a BGP Prefix-SID Attribute causes mayhem in the global #BGP tables as an iBGP attribute jumps the fence into the eBGP world. SpaceX’s Starlink and Bytedance’s TikTok affected. A blog by Ben Cartwright-Cox (bgp.tools fame) blog.benjojo.co.uk/post/bgp-attr-…

Exodus of IPv4 from War-torn Ukraine My latest for Kentik on how the war has shrunk the country's footprint in the global routing table, as Ukrainian providers lease IPv4 space to raise critical funds. #BGP kentik.com/blog/exodus-of…

Don’t forget to schedule your bilateral peering meeting with Global IP Network AS2914 #AS2914 at #NANOG94 in Denver next month. Peering information in PeeringDB, as always.

Ah, the trusty Cisco 7960 IP Phone - who’s still got a PCH INOC-DBA phone running? It’s, according to the webpage, the “critical infrastructure protection hotline communications system phone” used by ASNs doing peering back 20+ years ago! Nostalgia! youtu.be/uA1VXI7uWLM

Governments are already coming after #DNS and affecting the Internet (in a bad way). Next they will set their eyes on #BGP. A new report, released by i2Coalition, on Internet fragmentation under the title “DNS AT RISK” is worth a read. dnsatrisk.org

The 2015 Princeton RAPTOR (Routing Attacks on Privacy in Tor) paper is, once again, fodder for those that think #BGP is still busted. BGP is way better than it was ten years ago. But don’t let that stop someone (ie. Sam Bent Sam Bent) from making a YT video! Watch it anyway.

This is why a ton of stuff was down last week (12 June 2025). A null pointer at Google! 🤦‍♂️ “This pulled in blank fields for this respective policy change and exercised the code path that hit the null pointer causing the binaries to go into a crash loop.” status.cloud.google.com/incidents/ow5i…

There’s been no wayback machine coverage of Tehran IX since January 2023. Back then it was showing 3.2Tbps, no idea presently because, of course it’s presently offline. cc: Doug Madory (also on Bluesky) Shahab Vahabzadeh
