Single-issue advocacy groups be like: That vague symptom you've had for years that gets worse when you get stressed? B12. I'm telling you.

2 patients in 2 days behaving appallingly. Storming down to reception demanding something, intimidating staff. Both “set off” by me setting boundaries or saying no. Partners not enthusiastic to support. Makes you wonder - am I the arsehole?

Personally I’ve no problem with the PA role used in this way. Clearly-defined scope with no undifferentiated workload. But this work is currently done by HCA-level staff, pharmacists or nurses. Or GPs, if we must. The PA salary makes this role uneconomical.

I've finally found a good play for family offering my medical services to their friends and acquaintances - say I'm happy to help but their mate needs to call me directly. They never call. 🥳

Called upon mid-flight again 🫣 I shan't americanise the whole thing, because I don't have the energy, but it's interesting that out of 7 other doctors on the same flight I was the only one who could deal with a sick child. Just a GP, eh?

As it turns out, the NHS can afford to pay some staff well. But not doctors. You will continue to be devalued unless we stand up and demand pay restoration. Vote YES in the ballot today.

There’s an effort to frame this as a basic industrial dispute, when it goes much beyond that. People have asked questions re why the PA situation has inflamed doctors and why it spills into the pay dispute. I want to start with explaining PAs compared to doctors’ training: 1/

Dr Rachel Clarke I think perhaps you might be missing the point. Suppose what you really want is: 1. A more junior, malleable and cheaper medical workforce? Less consultants and perhaps less GPs, certainly less senior ones? Not “know it all” experienced doctors who cost a lot and are prepared

I really don't mind if I no longer have to finger strange men's bumholes at work anymore in the name of prostatism. What I DO mind is being compelled to provide an unproven screening programme at the expense of other patients. Prostate Cancer UK BAUS

I've been a doctor for quite a while now, but I have little more idea than the man in the street about how to reach out to a friend/relative recovering from a mental health "event". "Get well soon" and a punnet of grapes ain't it. Thoughts?
