Today is Black Girl Day Off. This day is set aside for Black women to rest. Chronic stress is a driver of so many adverse health outcomes for Black women. I'm hoping that Black women are heeding the call and taking a moment to, in Common's word, "just be".

Constantly torn between "I'm going to be the first full teaching professor" and "I'm done with all of this, I'm quitting as soon as I can". High emotional labor jobs do not pair well with burn out.

They love to bring in scientists w/ disabilities until those disabilities impact the person's work. They love to bring in first gen/low income students until those students can't commit all of their time solely to academia because they're working other jobs to survive. Hypocrisy.
