A year today new pay transparency law comes into force. Indeed data shows employers in high-pay industries tend to be less likely to include pay details in job ads. Among 6 countries analysed, this pattern is strongest in Ireland: pay transparency 57% in low-pay Vs 18% in high.

Pay transparency is coming soon. Spoke to Gabrielle Monaghan about the benefits. Pay secrecy clauses or workplace culture is exploited by employers to suppress wages. “Would you be prepared to continue earning the same money if you knew your company was paying your colleagues more?”

Ireland is almost unique in Europe in not capping the fees publicly funded childcare providers can charge parents. They’ll get €350m in fee subsidies in 2025/2026, up €20m on 2024/2025 and separate to €45m available to them to top-up their staff pay Today with Claire Byrne

VAT on food services in the UK and Northern Ireland is 20% and over 12% in 14 EU member states. We’re not significantly out of line.
