Hi everyone in the IB Diploma Programme community. I'm Zoe Badcock, long time IBDP Coordinator International School of Zug and Luzern (ISZL) in Switzerland. The focus for the next few days will be managing assessment within the whole programme. Feel free to introduce yourself as we get going.

#DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here We share monthly calendar where teachers put up dates to ensure no more than two subjectsโ€™ assessments are schedule in a day. For IA we create a map for two years at the beginning of each DP-1. 1/2

#DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Teachers make sure no IA draft/final falls in the same week. Also final submission falls in dif months and try to complete most IAs by the end of first term in DP-2 with exceptions of Lang lit, ToK.

Katherine Caouette #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Hey Katherine, so the template has all subjects written in a first row and the column has months and weeks. Teachers put up IA/IOC practice/drafts/finals tentative weeks for their respective subject. Since they can see each otherโ€™s timeline they are mindful to avoid clash.

KB #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette I inherited an IA Calendar template in around 2006 that had been the backbone of all my planning ever since... But have at times toyed with the idea of giving agency to students.. An culminating task (end of unit etc)

Nigel Gardner (@mrgsciencebitz) 's Twitter Profile Photo

KB #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette must have at least two weeks notice, not be on a day with more than one other culminating for any one studnet and be published in the cal. But the cal bit is always the problematic part, not massively...but

KB #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette and always same teachers... so what would happen if students could miss a culminating if it is not published?? how would teachers react? would it alter educator actions? would be an interesting piece of action research

Nigel Gardner #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette Yes, we emphasise on giving enough time and prior notices. Though largely followed, cal is tentative and we keep margin of uncertainty and exceptions. There are always few late subs and we accept that. However, teachers keep track and send reminders to minimise these.

KB #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette i'm not thinking in terms of student submission, but rather if teachers do not give the correct notice or do not add an assessment to the cal - then students could refuse to complete it. its an interesting mind piece of fostering student agency

Nigel Gardner #DPChat ๐ŸŒŽ Your Name Goes Here Katherine Caouette I get my teachers complete cal at the beginning of the year. Then I ensure to prompt deadlines and follow up if they are meeting it or not. I think, many times you hv to treat Ts like kids and remind. This year I am thinking of linking cal with Google cal for auto reminders ๐Ÿ˜‚
