As a year-end gift for our elderly building custodian with no hobbies but to get drunk on weekends, I found this utterly mouthwatering item from Sato Suisan. I don't drink, but I’m absolutely positive it makes a great drinking snack. Tender. Not too salty. #佐藤水産 #seasonalgift

Today’s sashimi supper is raw Aji (鯵, horse mackerel) fillets wrapped around Korean-style nori and roasted red bell pepper. Seasoned with freshly grated garlic, chopped pickled ginger, soy sauce, and olive oil. #mysashimilife #eatingwell

Today's sashimi dish featured chopped raw sanma (秋刀魚pacific saury). Added cubed cucumber. Tossed it in a bit of wasabi paste, olive oil and a drizzle of soy sauce. Spooned mounds of this on perilla leaves and sprinkled the tops with pink peppercorns. #mysashimilife

Yesterday a friend and I entertained ourselves by painting simple images on washi cards, tearing the images out of the cards by hand, gluing the images onto the stones, and finally, writing some words on the back of the stones. Ta da! Etegami stones!

"Pluto also Writes haiku in solitude Winter galaxy." I’ve been feverishly turning out mediocre passive-aggressive #haiku inspired by isolation from my haiku group during our fierce winter. Haiku along the lines of “Is Pluto a planet or not!? Am I a member of the group or not?!”

唐草や 風呂敷背負った 羊かな reference to the stereotype comic image of a burglar carrying out stolen goods in a large furoshiki (wrapping cloth) with an arabesque pattern on it (usually green) that could be found in almost every home way back when. #etegamicollage

Sapporo locals may remember this poster art promoting the Sapporo Snow Festival of 2018. The Snow Festival is an event that takes place in Sapporo in early February of each year, and I LOVE the posters they design to promote the event. (part 1 of 2)
