Brighton people know all too well, rail privatisation has meant poor, unreliable services for sky-high costs.  There is a clear majority now for public ownership. I'm determined to push the govt to turn this very solid start into a serious solution that serves every area.

I was the only MP in Justice qus earlier to raise the serious harm being done to women and families by incarceration and then release without a settled home to go to. Pleased to be offered a meeting, where I’ll discuss finding safe homes for all women leaving prison.

In an emergency like this we need new social housing that we simply buy, new social housing converted from empty buildings, and new social housing we build too. Real investment in all these things from the Government, right now, including loads in what bears fruit most quickly.

Instead of requiring housebuilders to equip new homes with an adequate number of solar panels, which would benefit home owners, the government's current plans are only to “encourage” builders to equip homes with some solar panels “where appropriate”. theguardian.com/environment/20…
