There is no English word for "Geltung" and there is no German word for "deliberation". But there is no translation for bof in either language. In terms of philosophy that should be a lesson.

If social media is, indeed, nothing more then people standing on opposite site of a fence, pissing at each other, this should be seen as a mandate to foster offline discussions and create spaces where people can meet and discuss in peace. Go to pubs, for democracy :-)

Today it hit us, too. Academic access to Twitter is gone. A good thing is that we started refactoring our code in order to be platform-agnostic: pypi.org/project/delab-…. It needs some polishing but you can analyze your Reddit/Mastodon or newspaper stuff all with the same lib.

Auch von mir, meine Perspektive auf das Wissenschaftszeitgesetz: Es muss möglich sein, sich in der Wissenschaft zu irren! Drei Jahre an etwas arbeiten, und feststellen, dass es nicht klappt, und dazu stehen zu können. Meine Promotion dauerte 6 Jahre, 3 an dem falschen Thema.
