All the anti-bike nimbys in Chevy Chase broke out in hives today because hundreds of cyclists were having fun on DMV roads and trails

“What doesn’t make sense is to hand car lanes over to cyclists when your real motive is to gum up traffic to discourage people from driving.” No, the real motive is to ensure that cyclists don’t die on our streets simply based on the type of transportation they utilize!

I am a commissioner-elect sans car. Besides walking and Metro Forward, for the past ~10 years Capital Bikeshare gets me where I need to go (at $95/year!). My family cannot afford a car and live in DC at the same time. We *love* our car-free life & need safe, affordable options to get around.

Marion Barry was last Mayor in 1999. You could have been born in DC after he was Mayor and be 25 today. Most advocates cast off as young transients are firmly middle-aged parents of DC-born kids. These standards don’t add up.

I am still so mad about this. The Connecticut Ave bike lanes should be open by now

All this administration had to do was... Nothing. And everything would be better than it is now, and better than it will be for a generation while the nation tries to recover.
