I am extremely pleased by my latest publication doi.org/10.1016/j.coas… together with David R. Fuhrman In this paper we re-parameterize scour time scales for a consistent scaling with sediment transport formulae and develop novel parameterizations for large monopiles
On Mon., Aug. 14 (10:20-11 CET) I will be giving an online invited lecture "#Coastal #Microplastic Transport" as part of The 2nd Int. Symp. on Water Waves & Environmental Hydrodynamics. The event is free to attend: meeting.tencent.com/dm/GXtweDoKF55m Meeting ID: 177 887 266 Password: 801801
Check out our new paper in Journal of Fluid Mechanics (with M. Klahn and Y. Zhai): A new probability density function for the surface elevation in irregular seas - bit.ly/3PAJG8U We derive a new PDF, with increased probability density of large surface elevations (hence rogue waves).
Seen this Amin Chabchoub Frederic Dias UCD ? Very nice result. The approximation in LH 1963 is unnecessary and the second-order pdf can be represented exactly. The new pdf predicts increased probability of positive surface elevations typical of rogue waves.
I am extremely excited that the stress-limiter David R. Fuhrman and I developed is included in the release of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ blogs.sw.siemens.com/simcenter/simc… It has a large effect on forces on structures, ship resistance, wave breaking and sediment transport bit.ly/4bx8kPq
New article discussing implementation of our “stabilized” turbulence closures (with Bjarke Eltard-Larsen) in Star-CCM+: Enhancing Turbulence Models in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ volupe.com/simcenter-star… #Simcenter STAR-CCM
