Not only did Sure Start improve lives but saved taxpayers money. 26 years after launch, the long term evidence now mounts up. Institute for Fiscal Studies has previously shown Sure Start led to better health & educational outcomes, now they show how it improved crime and social care outcomes.

1/ New Health and Safety Executive data highlights ongoing workplace health challenges in Great Britain. In 2023/24, 1.7 million workers reported health problems caused or worsened by their jobs. While slightly down from last year, it’s still much higher than the 1.2 million reported a decade ago.
