Started my new #BirdingbyBike year list today with a good count of 65 species (even though the Moore LT Duck was a no show!). Only 99 needed to beat last year now!

Last year was my 2nd attempt at a year list using only my bike to get around. Cycled a total of 3686 miles during the year, recording 163 species, which was pretty good for inland Cheshire! The best bird I saw had to be Red Grouse, mostly due to the effort it took to get it!

No sign of the LT Duck at Moore again today but at least 4 RN Parakeets there. The ride over added a nice flock of 50+ Yellowhammers & a couple of Ravens, as well as a good bit of exercise!

Cut my ride short today as it turned out to be a lot colder than I was expecting! Still a few decent sightings however with Scaup, Brambling & a nice close Goldeneye at Newchurch. The best though, was a Stoat seen catching a rat in the middle of the road before dragging it off!

Fantastic gull watching session today west of Runcorn Bridge with great views of the Kumlien's Gull. Also had 3 YL Gulls & 3 Caspian Gulls here too!

Finally managed to get out for a decent ride yesterday as it wasn't strong winds or heavy rain (or both!) for a change. Began the ride over to Hale with a Common Scoter at Marbury and later found another on on the Mersey. Added a few to the #BirdingByBike year list too!

Had my 1st ride of the year to Frodsham today. Best bird was the Water Pipit on Lordship Lane along with 18 Whooper Swans in fields towards the motorway. Also clocked up 70 miles in two days which would explain the aching legs!

Cracking day at Woolston today adding Ferruginous & Ruddy Ducks to my #BirdingByBike list. The 1st a Cheshire tick and the other a bird I didn't think I would see again in the UK! Bike needed a bit of a clean when I got back though! Low-Carbon Birding

I was already out on the bike in Delamere Forest so it didn't take me long to nip over to Frodsham as soon the Crane was reported. Managed some excellent views, especially when it flew right overhead as it left to the SE! #TwitchingByBike

An epic 65.8 mile ride to the Dee Estuary today managed to add Spotted Redshank & Egyptian Goose to the #BirdingByBike list. The best though, were the 2 Scarlet Tigers. (New moths for me) Low-Carbon Birding
