Tea and history for breakfast this morning. One week out from the anniversary of the battles of Concord and Lexington, time to refresh my memory of what happened a few miles down the road 250 years ago.

It's been 12 years since the Atholl Highlanders were here to celebrate the 250th anniversary of their namesake, Athol, Massachusetts. As America gets ready to celebrate it's own 250th anniversary, we were excited to welcome this famous regiment back to the State House.

Old Ironsides' earned her nickname fighting against British ships, but today she's the perfect backdrop for our special relationship! Many thanks to USS CONSTITUTION Commander Schaefer for hosting Consul General David Clay. Some bonds are truly ironclad. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

It was such a privilege to meet Ken Burns yesterday in Concord and discuss the American Revolution and US-UK relations. Can’t wait to watch his new TV series on the Revolution later this year.

It was an honour to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day on board USS CONSTITUTION today. The ceremony was a moment to remember all those who fought for our freedom in WW2. My grandfather George Bennett - who served in the Royal Navy during the war - was in my thoughts.
