The 6 month mark in any sustained crisis is always difficult. We have all adjusted to this "new normal", but might now feel like we're running out of steam. Yet, at best, we are only 1/3 the way through this marathon. How can we keep going? THREAD /x

Instead of bracing ourselves and hoping that the protests for justice die down, let’s come together and deal with the racism, inequity, and corruption that require us to protest in the first place. Let’s not block out the cries for healing. Let’s answer them.

It is expected that the Grand Jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case will be announced soon. I have no inside information on the exact timing or what that decision will be, but there are some things that are clear to me at this point. 1/11

I know we can dismantle structural racism. I know we can abolish generational poverty. I know we can create a society where every person has the ability to surpass their dreams. That’s what I’m fighting for.

The @commonfutureco team is growing. We’re hiring a COO to guide day-to-day functions and cross-departmental initiatives & a Managing Director to lead our efforts to drive capital to the BIPOC, Southern, and rural orgs in our network. Deets in link below. #ImpInv #racialjustice

.@atticascott4ky has been peacefully leading protests for racial justice and calling for systemic change through policy reform. She introduced the state-wide Breonna’s law. These charges are infuriating and unwarranted. Release Rep. Scott, dismiss the charges, and apologize.

@UofLPresNeeli I am certain you are aware that one of our star students @Ashantilynn01 was arrested last night with other leaders demanding justice for Breonna Taylor. UofL needs to publicly stand with them.

There’s are still many Kentuckians who don’t have a right to vote. We will discuss restoration of voter rights and talk about those whose rights were restored. Let our people vote!! #justicevotes #justicevotesky #jlusa

I recorded this Wednesday, and it has been sitting with me. I was hit with tear gas earlier this year during protests, and to hear Louisville Police threaten chemical agents on a community crying out for justice is unspeakable. Chemical agents should be banned from police use.

Protesters telling media to go home and yelling at photographers for taking pictures. Both protesting and reporting are constitutionally protected activities.

#PresidentialDebate To the rest of the world who may be following along, please know the behavior of these two men do not represent the entirety of this nation. Feeling deeply disturbed and truly ashamed by this display. #WeMustAct #ThereAreNoSidelines

To our youth newly engaging in our political process, know this: the acts of #PresidentialDebate2020 aren't leadership. May @atticascott4ky Charles Booker @RepJosieRaymond stand as examples of active, committed political leadership worthy of support & emulation. #LeadBetter
