Council President Darrell L. Clarke issued this statement on the fatal shooting of a Philadelphia Police Officer, and the wounding of a second officer, during  a  suspected car theft last night in a parking garage at Philadelphia International Airport.

A bittersweet moment as Police Commissioner Stanford put it: the arrest of the last 2 suspects in the killing of Police Officer Mendez and shooting of Officer Ortiz. Law enforcement puts their lives on the line every day to protect us. We’re in their debt. ⁦PHLCouncil⁩
