It’s a beautiful day here at the Philadelphia Housing Authority groundbreaking for Sharswood III, a new construction, mixed-use development with 224 affordable housing units, retail spaces, and community amenities.
A bittersweet moment as Police Commissioner Stanford put it: the arrest of the last 2 suspects in the killing of Police Officer Mendez and shooting of Officer Ortiz. Law enforcement puts their lives on the line every day to protect us. We’re in their debt. PHLCouncil
Today, I was happy to help announce the launch of the Philadelphia Police Department’s “Our City Needs You” recruitment campaign. With more funding from PHLCouncil we are providing the Philly PPD the funding and resources they need to hire and retain more officers. Philadelphia Police Department

The Philadelphia 76ers Tyrese Maxey is already an NBA Star, but we appreciate him even more for his Foundation work this weekend - donating 🦃 to deserving families. You’re a winner in our book Tyrese. THANK YOU! 🏀🙏🏿👍🏿
It takes years of commitment to create a new playground and basketball court, but we did it at 11th & Venango in North Philly, where neighbors never gave up. Today was a day we've long worked for. Thanks to Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and Philadelphia 76ers for working to get this done! PHLCouncil
Tune in Sunday at 11:30 am and see my final interview with Lauren Mayk on NBC10 Philadelphia @Issue. We talk through 2+ decades of the best job I ever had, serving the people of Philly and the 5th Council District.
Why did Council President Darrell Clarke decide not to run for mayor? "At the end of the day, the fire didn't burn in my belly," he said. Plus, he liked the things he was able to accomplish on Council.
Promises made, promises kept. Today in North Philly, with Philadelphia Housing Authority Kelvin A. Jeremiah, PhD and the people of the 5th Council District. I am humbled, and grateful.
Just took the oath of office as the 100th Mayor of City of Philadelphia. I am humbled and thrilled to serve as your new leader. Let’s tackle the challenges ahead and work together to unite our city. #OnePhilly
