Ecosystem services are so important, but different models make different predictions We show how creating model ensembles increases accuracy and argue we should all try to use multiple models

New Paper! Does Green Infrastructure live up to the hype & connect populations in anthropogenic landscapes? Using landscape genetics, we show road verge networks in 3 countries enhance gene flow in Lady's Bedstraw @FUNgreen2017 Jan Plue @SAOCousins.bsky.social onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ec…

While most focus on Ecosystem Servicedelivery from habitat patches, we show the network formed by Green Infrastructure could enhance ES across the landscape While most services are lower in the GI, this could be overcome by management @Fungreen2017 sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Evidence shows that #ensembles of #ecosystemservice #models are more accurate than using a single #model chosen at random (e.g. #InVEST, #ARIES etc). But it takes A LOT of resources to work across multiple platforms - creating an information bias toward those with these resources

To address this, we created #global #ecosystemservice #model #ensembles and made these outputs freely available: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

New paper! Here we use model ensembles to get more robust estimates of 5 ecosystem services We apply these globally & show they are equally accurate in less vs well researched regions We make these estimates available for anyone, anywhere in the world science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

We used the universal law of human mobility to map #nature-based #recreation in the #UK: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…. But it also makes a great proxy for access to many other #ecosystemservices. The outputs are freely available here: catalogue.ceh.ac.uk/documents/bd3b…

All models are wrong, some are useful, but using multiple models can increase accuracy and assess uncertainty Worried to see policy makers using a single model, often because that’s the one promoted to them by a particular academic team sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
