Wonder if I should make a Goodreads account just to look at trending books, leave good ratings/reviews on books I like, and vote in awards. I use the Storygraph, and I'd continue to keep my TBR and currently reading there, but I wonder if I'm missing anything.

Ah, I'm the first person to rate this (not-yet-released) book on the Storygraph. Interesting. (Technically the second person but the first person didn't read the book, just noted that it was controversial.)
