Leaving adult nerd camp (#Biomaterials Gordon Research Conferences) sleep-deprived, dehydrated, and attacked by mosquitoes, but filled with so much excitement for research and love for this family. Thanks to Tatiana Segura, Andy Putnam, Caitlin Maikawa, & Eneko Axpe for organizing! 📷: @BrianAguado 🥹🫶

Leaving the Gordon Research Conferences in Biomaterials re-energized about the design and translation of functional materials and grateful to join such a warm and vibrant community of bioengineers. Thank you to Mike Mitchell for sending us to nerd camp!

Want to make our HELP #hydrogels for 3D cell encapsulation? Check out Meghan Hefferon's latest paper in Current Protocols! & congrats to all co-authors (read: HELP enthusiasts) Michelle Huang, Yueming Liu, Renato S. Navarro, PhD 🇲🇽, Narelli Paiva, Daiyao Zhang & Giselle! …rentprotocols.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cp…

Thrilled to share our new paper out in Biomacromolecules by Riley Alexandra Suhar, Michelle Huang, Renato S. Navarro, PhD 🇲🇽, and Giselle Aviles Rodriguez. We created a library 📚 of elastin-like proteins (ELPs) with different cell-interactive ligands for neural cell culture! (1/7) pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/ac…

Shout out to our fantastic Postdoc Liaison Max Saccone (DeSimone Research Group) for giving a super captivating lunch-and-learn and teaching us about additive manufacturing approaches! 🤩

Huge thank you to former SPC president and the newest assistant professor in Stanford Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Vivian Feig, for returning to give a lunch-and-learn about her lab’s research directions. We are so excited to have you back at Stanford Engineering! 🥰🤗

Happy international women's day! Celebrating the wonderful women scientists in our lab today and every day 😍 Sarah Heilshorn Carla Huerta-López Vanessa Doulames, PhD Meghan Hefferon Lucia Brunel Michelle Huang Yueming Liu Narelli Paiva Betty Cai

🎉 Congrats to our winners from yesterday’s SPC poster symposium: Judge’s choice: Noah Eckman (Eric A. Appel) Michael Beckinghausen (Andy Spakowitz) People’s choice: Daiyao Zhang (Heilshorn Lab) Alexandra L. Ramos (Zhenan Bao)

We had a wonderful time hosting Tim Woodfield from University of Otago at Stanford! Tim gave a fantastic talk on his group’s exciting work, and we had great discussions on biofabrication, spheroid bioassembly, and photo-crosslinkable hydrogels! Sounds like a trip to NZ is much needed… 👀

Thrilled that our latest paper on engineered matrices for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) organoids is now live Nature Materials! Follow along to learn why PDAC organoids develop chemoresistance when cultured in high stiffness matrices. 🔎 (1/12) nature.com/articles/s4156…

The Heilshorn Lab is excited to be attending #BMES2024 in Baltimore! Check out talks by Michelle Huang, Daiyao Zhang, and Narelli Paiva to learn about biomaterials for stem cell engineering, disease modeling, and drug delivery! Excited to see everyone soon 😍 Biomedical Engineering Society

Next stop for the Heilshorn Lab is the Bioengineering & Translational Medicine Conference and AIChE Annual Meeting in San Diego! We are thrilled to be sharing our research at these 2 colocated events. Come say hi! 🌴 #AIChE2024 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)

Re-energized and inspired after a stellar week of conferences — from #BMES2024 to the Bioengineering & Translational Medicine Conference to #AIChE2024! It was truly wonderful meeting everyone 🤗🧑🔬 Biomedical Engineering Society American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)

End of the quarter means celebrating our awesome undergrads! Shout out to Hakim and Sanjana (pictured with mentors Carla Huerta-López and Daiyao Zhang) for giving awesome posters at the MatSci Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium! 🧑🔬 Stanford Materials Science and Engineering

Excited to share our new article in COBME with Carla Huerta-López and Sarah Heilshorn! We review current organoid & bioprinting technologies and explore how they can advance microenvironment patterning for tissue engineering applications. Heilshorn Lab sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
