Relying heavily on AI doesn’t only stifle critical thinking. It constrains creativity too. New evidence: People generate more original ideas when they consult AI sometimes, rather than extensively or rarely. Independent thought is a foundation of ingenuity.

For the last ~20 years, I did most of my coding inside an IDE - the last ~15 with increasingly good autocomplete. Which is why it’s so weird that I barely opened an IDE the last two weeks, even as I pushed lots of code. I use the CLI, the web and my phone (!!) to prompt code

Will devs like me have a job in 5 years even with AI? Likely, yes. Will devs like me have the same job in 5 years even with AI? Likely, no.

Is anyone else blown away by the exciting times we live in? I mean, there’s AI of course, but then I’m inclined to think peptides are also gonna change EVERYTHING. Lost 30+ pounds in 2023 through Ozempic, and apparently that was just the beginning of healthcare being shaken up.

this is a catastrophe. StackOverflow provided data to LLMs, LLMs replaced StackOverflow, and now no new Q&A hub exists to provide fresh data. it’s a self-undermining causal loop, like mold growing on food, consuming it, and dying once the food is gone.

If you are a software engineer "experiencing some degree of mental health crisis", now hear this, because I've been coding for 50 years since the days of punched cards and I have a salutary kick in your ass to deliver. Get over yourself. Every previous "programming is obsolete"

A super interesting new study from Harvard Business Review. A 8-month field study at a US tech company with about 200 employees found that AI use did not shrink work, it intensified it, and made employees busier. Task expansion happened because AI filled in gaps in knowledge,

The 🇵🇭Philippines is sleepwalking into a BPO collapse. 1.7M jobs exposed. No serious national transition plan. No urgency. No accountability.
