New maps available for 'targeting revisits' for a range of recording schemes. Maps show pink 1 km squares that have past records but no repeat surveys, and adding records from these squares helps make data available for monitoring change. Info at brc.ac.uk/article/target…

Its #30DaysWild so lets have 30 days of #FLIES A slightly blurry Epiphragma ocellare but all the features to identify it are there. Banded legs, striped abdomen & note the little circle patterns on the wings. This is a Limoniidae - Limonid Cranefly, & these like the woods

Common in swampy places at the moment is Tipula unca. Here is a male - combination of the patterned wings (particularly towards the end) and the turned up male genitalia. #fieldrecording #craneflies

Mating pair of Tiger Cranefly (Nephrotoma flavescens) observed on #TunstallHills 19.6.22 🙌 Craneflies (Tipulidae) must be very under-recorded across the UK 🤔 & would encourage you to use fab resources at dipterists.org.uk/cranefly-schem…

Hi Sophie Pavelle absolutely loved listening to F-M-N though I know it’s not aimed at me as a long time professional ecologist. Great that Craneflies got a mention and should you ever need to know more give us a shout. Would recommend it to anyone #ForgetMeNot

From the largest to the smallest species of #craneflies from #Catalonia (and probably from Europe): the formidable Tipula maxima and the minute & no less amazing Tasiocera murina, both sharing space and time in the Pyrenees
