2022 Rogers Scholar Kinley Jones decided to complete, not one, but three separate community service projects. She planned an entire community service program, including a Halloween costume drive, a canned food drive, and stocked the food pantry.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Morgan County High School student Shelby Cole organized a toy drive for children in Breathitt, Knott, and Perry counties in the wake of the Eastern Kentucky flood relief efforts for her community service project.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Boyd County High School student Hope Smallwood decided to collect donated children’s books and set up a portable library after she learned students at Boyd County Early Childhood Academy did not have a library at their school.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Wolfe County High School student Isabella “Bella” Salyers provided toys and games for children displaced by the Eastern Kentucky flood for her community service project.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Bath County High School student Caroline Rushing is giving back to Crossroads Elementary School. She organized a “Clothes for Kindness” campaign to benefit the students and the school’s family resource center.

2022 Rogers Scholar Brooklyn Adams is showing some love to new and expectant moms at Haven Care Center. She donated diapers and wipes to the local pregnancy center for her community service project.

On Pajama Day at South Irvine Early Learning Center, 2022 Rogers Scholar and Estill County High School student Hannah Hall noticed some students did not have pajamas or their pajamas were too small. Hannah decided to organize a pajama drive for her community service project.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Harlan County High School student Kenneth Sergent combined two of his favorite things – kayaking and the river – to serve his community. He and a group of volunteers loaded their kayaks and paddled up and down the river, picking up trash and debris.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Buckhorn High School student Mackenzie McIntosh helped paint the hallways and classrooms of AB Combs Elementary School, which, for the second year is hosting students from flood-damaged schools.

2022 Rogers Scholar and Rose Hill Christian School student Isabel Hensley donated clothing and hygiene items to Safe Harbor of Northeast Kentucky, an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence, for her community service project.

2022 Rogers Scholar Emma Moore, left, launched a mentoring program at Williamsburg Independent Elementary School. The Stinger Program pairs high school students with fourth-grade elementary students to help with academic, emotional, and social needs.

2022 Rogers Scholar Todd Prater donated Teddy Bears to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office for officers to give to children who experience traumatic situations. Todd, a Floyd Central High School student, sold dog treats to help pay for the cost of the Teddy Bears.

2022 Rogers Scholar McClellan Sizemore, a Jackson City School student, wanted to help local and area residents recover from horrific floods that devastated portions of Eastern Kentucky. She collected donations and purchased cleaning supplies to help with the rebuilding efforts.
