In SA we use the word "SHAAME!" to express sympathy, concern or admiration, for anything from a sweet baby, an injured kid, or a bereavement. It's also used ironically, so just to say "SHAAME Billy boy! Are our boys beating up your boys? Don't you have enough big boys to pick?"
