The half-day event, organized under the Cluster of Research Excellence in Preparedness & Response to Pandemics & Shocks at Makerere University School of Public Health, will disseminate key findings from an ongoing study in Buvma & Kalanagala districts that seeks to strengthen the reporting & registration of deaths.

Mortality surveillance offers key data to inform health interventions from policy planning to resource mobilization, allocation, and emergency response. This and more will form part of the Mortality Surveillance Project dissemination workshop happening on 8th Nov 2024 at Makerere University School of Public Health.

On Friday 8th November 2024, we held the dessimnnation workshop for the Mortality Survaillance Project, aimed at strengthening death notification and reporting in Kalangala and Buvuma island districts in Uganda at Makerere University School of Public Health new auditorium, Makerere University.

Buvuma and Kalangala experience deaths from drowning, accidents, diseases, and maternal issues, yet poor access to facilities and transport challanges limit death notification and registration, hindering effective health planning and policy intervention. AFENETAfrica

Schools of Public Health (SPHs) were instrumental in supporting health systems to deal with the #COVID-19 pandemic. In this Globalization and Health article, we share the #Africa experience of the contribution of SPHs during the pandemic & recommend actions for the future Makerere University School of Public Health, Makerere University.

Also, SPHs trained response teams who supported field activities including surveillance and contact tracing.
