Dave Ernsberger from @SPGCI gave an excellent keynote address today at #SOTI2024 on the 2024 Energy Transition and Outlook. He discussed how uncertain geopolitical factors & changing economic conditions will impact the evolution of energy market dynamics in coming years.

It was an honor to hear Karl Rove, the former White House Deputy Chief of Staff, give a keynote address on the 2024 Political Outlook at #SOTI2024. Rove discussed America's current political climate & the historic resilience we have shown when faced with political turbulence.

Yesterday's renewable fuels panel "Fueling Tomorrow: Navigating the Future Landscape of Renewable Fuels" featured professionals from Argus Media, LanzaJet, & Neste. We enjoyed listening to the panel discuss the significant potential of renewable diesel & SAF.

This morning we had the opportunity to listen to professional staff from House Committee on Agriculture, House Agriculture Committee Democrats, Senate Ag, Nutrition, & Forestry Committee Dems, & Senate Ag Committee Republicans share Congressional perspectives on Basel III, Farm Bill, cryptocurrency, CFTC appropriations & VCM guidance, & U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Custody Rule.

Yesterday's "AI in Commodities" panel featured Ranveer Chandra from Agri-Food Microsoft and was moderated by Mona Hamdy from Harvard University. The two discussed the role of AI as a co-pilot to the human parsing of data & its potential to aid in supply chain risk mitigation.

Today, we listened to the legal eagles of CMC discuss CFTC enforcement strategies, insider trading, & recent voluntary carbon market guidance issued by the CFTC. Thank you to Blockchain Lobbyist for moderating a lively discussion!

Today, CMC board member, Ed Prosser with Scoular, was invited to brief House Agriculture Committee Members on the negative impact Basel III will have on commodity markets, end-user risk management opportunities, & ag producers.

CMC appreciates CFTC for holding a panel to further discussion on Basel III at this week’s EEMAC Meeting, sponsored by @CFTCmersinger. CMC board member, John Murphy with Mizuho Americas, was invited to present to the committee & advocate on behalf of ag & energy end-users.

We look forward to the upcoming CFTC GMAC meeting, sponsored by Acting Chairman Pham, where CMC board member, John Murphy with Mizuho Americas, will represent CMC's advocacy objectives.

Today, on behalf of CMC, Scott Parsons testified before HSFC staff on the significant challenges Basel III poses for derivatives market end-users. CMC believes CFTC should have a voice in Basel III policy discussions, recognizing their expertise in commodity markets.

CMC appreciates Frank Lucas for drawing attention to the consequences Basel III will have for ag and energy markets. The Fed must work with the CFTC to avoid the negative impacts the current Basel proposals would have on derivatives markets. Thank you for your advocacy!
