House1000 wasn’t only about moving people inside and closing large encampments. It was also about reweaving the fabric of our community through love, joy, beauty, and authentic connection. So good to celebrate that today!

House 1,000 people living on Denver's street in under six months. Some people thought it was impossible, but I knew we had to confront homelessness in a big way if we wanted a big change. 1,034 people have come inside as Dec. 30. This is historic, and we’re just getting started.

Congratulations to the mayor’s team, who’ve worked so hard to bring people indoors. And congratulations to the over 1000 Denverites who now have a place to call home. Everyone deserves safe and stable housing! We’re excited to see this program continue.

This is indeed a victory. And a hard fought one. I’m proud of our city and mayor Mike Johnston for staying true to his word. This is only one battle in the fight, but my hope and confidence stands behind Mayor and his quest to house the unhoused. Well done.

Grateful to be in DC today sharing our lessons learned from Denver’s House1000 initiative—namely, that human centered public policy approaches like addressing encampments through housing access create transformative results for cities and the people that call those cities home.
