From St. Kevin's CoI in Hollywood to St. Paul's CoI in Bannow (Balloughton), Co. #Wexford, one of the 10 churches we visited in the Wexford & Kilscoran Union of Parishes today. Many photos, both digital & 35mm film, were taken by Iain Nash & I, & will be posted/developed soon.

13 June 1537: Henry VIII appoints Richard Nangle Bishop of Clonfert in #Ireland but he fails to prise it from the Papal appointee Richard Burke #otd After Nangle's death in 1541, Henry VIII ended up recognising Burke. Which is an interesting one.

Statue of St. Dominic in the Black Abbey, Kilkenny. Still in the possession of the Dominicans, it dates from pre-reformation times and was apparently damaged by Cromwell's troops.

Richard #Parsons, 1st Earl of #Rosse, notorious & dangerous libertine, died at his Dublin residence on 21 June, 1741. He & his sister Lady Elizabeth are buried at St Patrick's Cathedral, #Dublin. My snap of cathedral monument D. Ryan's Merrion Press book

This is desperately sad news. Ray was an icon of early modern Irish history and loyal supporter of Church of Ireland Historical Society. Among his many, many publications include the parish registers of Dublin in 16c and 17c published by Four Courts Press. We wish to extend our sympathies to Bernadette.
