🥏 Pleased that, after working with Yeti Disc Golf Club, Bristol City Council have agreed a way for them to stay at Ashton Court Estate! 🌳 Updates to the course design will prevent damage to trees + disturbance to wildlife, protecting the surrounding Site of Special Scientific Interest

My favourite study of "how often does a family with small children get a respiratory infection?" is this one, from the USA: doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci… Children <5y have one of 16 common respiratory viruses detected in a nasal swab 50% of the year!

Can’t believe I’m tweeting my dire financial situation - but here I am speaking at our Bristol UCU rally. Being a lecturer is an aspirational job, which we work towards for yrs - our pay doest reflect it. It’s not enough to raise a family. And I’m one of the lucky ones…

We have to keep correcting this now. The infrastructure doesn't exist to double medical school places, and even if it did, that means more doctors in 2030, more GPs 2035, more consultants around 2040. We need to retain the ones we have if there's to be a hope of seeing them.

Dear international students and talents from around the world, note that German universities welcome foreign students, are tuition free and many subjects are taught in English. Germany has become an open and liberal society in contrast to what the UK government is implementing.

Alphabetical order mismatch and 52 of 78 neighborhoods had wrongly merged data. I spend a lot of time teaching advanced inference methods, but boring research data management remains the most essential skill. And that includes auditing for merge mistakes.
