BG’s admission that breaching these ‘new policies’ amounts to ‘physical abuse’ is significant, however they are currently still failing to sanction coaches for perpetrating clear cases of abuse and what were formerly ‘guideline violations’ via their own Complaints Process.

Exactly Kim, an important point made here. When it comes to complaints and sanctions, leaving options and consent for parents and gymnasts in the mix means it may prove hard to get panels to hand out suspensions and bans - putting the burden of proof again on the child.

'Reform '25 is just reputation management... it’s not really engaging with the damage that these coaches have done to gymnasts' Claire Heafford, the founder of the campaign group Gymnasts for Change, shares her views on British Gymnastics' reforms following the Whyte Review ⬇️

It was a privilege to be invited to speak on BBC Woman's Hour again today, following the release yesterday of our Open Letter to BG & all parties to the ICP. Thank you Emma Barnett & Kat Craig for your time & support. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Full interview below: 👂🏼⬇️🙏🏻

So months ago G4C asked for the complaints process to be paused to allow for it to be reset; it limped on…and here we are! Is anyone at this godforsaken NGB going to get a grip?

A few weeks ago I sat down with Olympic Boxer Anthony Ogogo to delve into the findings of the Whyte Review. We discussed the need to question traditional sporting practices & what more positive coaching might look like. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/get… instagram.com/reel/C4gO5cfK5…

British Gymnastics "could and should have done more" to support a family that was “isolated and treated terribly” after reporting alleged abuse. The York gymnastics story is one that has stuck with me. It continues, reporting by Mark Ansell bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

My lovely friend and mentor Dannie Reeve was kind enough to invite me to have a conversation with her on her podcast. I’m really delighted with our conversation about the healing power of sports. Please do have a listen 🙏🏻 danniereeve.com/episode-025.ht…

I’m watching gymnastics at the Olympics for the first time since 1996. How is it possible that a certain female BBC commentator is still in her role? She nit picks at every single performance and her commentary is tone deaf to the changes needed in the sport. 🤬

Age group competitions are for children/teenagers - super talented athletes competing on the world stage, but children nevertheless. Really hope BG now include chaperones in GB delegations when very young children are sent to major championships like this one.
