Really interesting thread on #screenwriting covering a lot of ground - the primacy of character (and 'truthful human behaviour') over plot to draw audiences in, and a reminder to really drill down into your concept before even thinking about opening FD

"Feel-good tunes for feel-bad times." Perfect description of Creedence. One of my all time faves and massively underrated and still as relevant today as they always were...

Really enjoyed that session - Scribe Lounge UK groups always re-energise my writing after discussing such varied and interesting projects, and the helpful feedback given and received between us all... "..our most loved veteran pro members"? Too kind James

Bookmarking the shit out of this thread by Danny Manus Every tweet is like a little gold nugget of inspiration for writers (like me) trying to find that sweet spot in our querying.

Congrats to all SFs - was privileged to give notes on an early draft of Rabbit Hole. So, knowing that the others are no doubt up to Simon's high standards, I'm happy my entry made the top 30 in the face of such strong competition!

Watched/caught up on three Scribe Lounge UK Lounge Lab sessions so far and each has been brilliant (as has host @jamescapel) - full of interesting and actionable info on #screenwriting and development processes, career advice... and even some insider gossip sprinkled throughout!

This was a brilliant insight into an agent's work and suffice to say Alec showed that agents are actually perfectly nice people and truly do want the best for writers - you just need to find someone who connects with you and your work.

"Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." For some reason Ferris Bueller keeps popping into my mind at least once a day. Can't think why...

...so does this mean the train-based thriller I submitted to the latest BBC Writers Open Call is going straight onto the rejection pile? 🤣

Recently it’s felt like a challenging time in TV & a quiet summer in terms of opportunities. 🍁🍂But with autumn round the corner a few new roles and initiatives (hate the word ‘scheme’) are starting to pop up. Here’s a couple… 🧵 #tvdevelopment #tvdrama #scriptjobs #writers

Brilliant start to two weeks of informative and inspiring Scribe Lounge UK events with leading lights of UK TV and film. Hayley McKenzie was full of experienced-based insight and actionable advice on pilots. "What if...?" she's set a high bar for the following speakers?!? 🤔

I can’t remember a time in my career when things have felt so unsure. A clusterfuck of issues in the industry (& wider) culminating in so many brilliant people looking for work. I’m emailed daily by dev/script peeps wanting to introduce themselves/advice & opportunities. 1/?
