That time my kindergartener came home and said, “Mom, did you know I’m an author and an illustrator? I wrote my own book and drew the pictures at school. I even made a cover.”... and my heart nearly exploded. 😍Marshall Road #identitymatters #writinglife #writingworkshop

"If you walk into an AP class they having fun, laughing and talking. But if you walk into an intervention class and a child is starting on page 1 of a program and they have to go to page 365… somebody is doing something wrong and it’s not the kids.” Anna Osborn #ILA19 #G2great

Question for us all to ponder... “Why do we do something as a practice in school that does not emulate what readers do outside of school?” #authenticity #LiteracyforAll2019 @lester_laminack

Another question for us to ponder... “What are our beliefs about writing/writing instruction, and how do our practices align with those beliefs?” #LiteracyforAll2019 Matt Glover

“Publishing is the act of making writing public. It doesn’t mean that the writing HAS to be revised, edited, and copied (though it might be).” Matt Glover #LiteracyforAll2019

We don’t want students to think writing techniques are siloed into genres. Craft and process studies help writers see how techniques cut across genres. Matt Glover #LiteracyforAll2019

There’s nothing holding us back when we talk about grammar as being about meaning and effect rather than right or wrong. @writeguyjeff #LiteracyForAll2019 #patternsofpower

A Closer Look at Guided Reading: Redefining our “HOW” (a follow up to my “WHY” post yesterday) #G2great facebook.com/mary.c.howard.…

Great post- we should always make sure our “whys” lead our “hows” in guided reading instruction (and all instruction for that matter!).
