Paul Farmer often railed against the desiccated neoliberal logic of “cost-benefit analysis” and its assumption that the value of care, life, and love or the cost of abuse, sickness, death, and loss could be rendered as a number for philanthropists’ evaluation metrics. I miss him.

For anyone interested: I now live 3/4 my life in Jersey City and 1/4 my life in Boston. Still working for Boston Public Health Commission but in a capacity akin to consultant.

Today marks a new chapter in holding JUUL accountable for their predatory and wrongful targeting of young people. The settlement announced today will deliver $41 million to Massachusetts - and a portion of that will go directly to funding vaping addiction services.

Many people know that my story ends with Stanford and Boston University, but few know how my story begins. Well, this is it. Returning to the Clark County Detention Center this past week was very surreal. I spent 20 months in this jail awaiting trial and then sentencing. 🧵🪡

The Connector does amazing work supporting women-centered and transgender individuals. The program is an essential part of Boston's harm reduction fabric. Local folks, please consider volunteering to help assemble kits!

My letter was published in today’s The Boston Globe. Carine Hajjar’s article argues progressive policies are to blame for Mass & Cass. Blaming harm reduction for M&C is like blaming an Emergency Room for gun violence. Harm reduction is a response to a failure, not the failure.
